Melba and I worked together at Tinker AFB and were friends for over 30 yrs.  She was a wonderful cook and tried to teach me but finally gave up and would just make a delicious dish and send it home with me.  She often would ask me to crochet with her and said she had never met a woman she couldn't teach until me.  We laughed about that so many times.  I will miss you and love you my dear friend! How glad I am that Melba moved to Washington state for the few years she had here. Otherwise, I would have had to wait until heaven to meet her. Even now, I can still hear her Okie accent chattering away. What a gal!

I always knew that going to Grandma Melba's and Grandpa's meant there was a pretty good chance that we were not gonna have time to be bored.  She had more toys than Santa Claus.  She had toys in every room in her house.  She had toys in her cars.  She had toys EVERYWHERE.  It didn't matter if you were age 2,5,8,15,or 23, or if you were a boy or a girl, there was always something in her home for you. The best thing about it was, she didn't hesitate to get in the middle and play along.

All those times I ran her around Bluegrass and I had NO idea it was the woman I had lived next door to for years in Midwest City. I am so sorry for your loss, and yet so amazed at the connection with the woman I remember from my youth as being incredibly tolerant of our shenanigans, and the woman I knew as an adult who always had a smile no matter how many bumps I hit.

Enjoyed getting to know Melba when she joined our Fiber Friends group here in Washington State.  She will be missed.
