Michael James Edds, 53, passed away July 20th, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born December 3, 1962 in Topeka, Kansas to William and Janiece Edds, the fifth of six siblings.
Amidst his disabilities, Michael taught us so much about joy, humility, understanding, and most importantly, Love. Michael had much to give and he desired to give it. He was exceptionally perceptive to those in need, always ready with an affirming smile, or a hug, or a kiss. Or all three.
Michael’s unconquerable spirit, whether looking forward to going to school in his youth, or spending time at play outdoors with his many nieces, nephews and surrounding family members through his later years, continually taught us how to love better, not only in his witness but in allowing us to help him – a true loving spirit.
Michael was never one without a gentle smile, genuine laughter and warm embrace to everyone he encountered; familiar or unfamiliar.
As St. Paul reminds us, “There are in the end three things that last: faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love” (1 Cor. 13:13). Michael loved, and he loved well.
Michael is survived by his brother, William V. Edds and wife Leann (OKC, OK), sisters Joanne Vobach and husband Mike (Topeka, KS), Rita Dobinski and husband David (Fargo, ND), Gloria Williams and husband Dale (Warr Acres, OK), and Rose Marie Edds (Tulsa, OK), nine nieces and nephews, eleven great nieces and nephews, many other loving friends and family members.
Memorial Services will be held 6:30 PM Sunday, on July 24, 2016 at Guardian Funeral Home West Chapel with a Catholic Mass Monday July 25, 10:00AM at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens of OKC.
