Michael John Kern, 66, went home to be with the Lord on March 29, 2024, Born on March 15, 1958, in San Diego, Ca and grew up in Roundup Mt. Michael lived a full life, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.
After graduating from high school in Roundup, Michael enlisted in the Navy, beginning a 20-year journey of service to his country. During this time he earned his PHD in Us History and a Bachelors degree in electrical engineering. He retired as Master Chief in the Navy, a testament to his dedication and leadership.
Michael's passions extended beyond his military career. He was an avid baseball fan, enjoyed engaging in political debates, and found solace in fishing. His quick wit and colorful language made him a beloved figure among friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lori West; daughter, Tamara Wheeler; mother, Leona Reighard (Bob); sisters, Dee Dee Satrom (Clint) and Laurie Denning (Mike); brother, Anthony “Toby” Kern (Karen); and grandchildren, Briana, Michael, Jesse Jr., Jay, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. His love of all things military, his stories about life on a ship and patriotism will be deeply missed, but his memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Mike will be buried at sea by the USNavy
