

Milda Henkuzens, 92, passed away on July 1, 2012 in Bethany, OK. She was born Sept.19, 1919 to Kris Ozolnieks and Lize Osmane. Milda graduated from culinary school and worked in Restaurants and Bakeries in Riga, Latvia for several years. She married Juris Henkuzens in Kuldiga, Latvia in 1942, where they lived on a large forested farm. They left Latvia in 1944 during WWII and lived with their son Valdis, in a displaced persons camp in Germany for 5 years. The First Lutheran Church sponsored them to come to the U.S.A. in 1950. They lived in Oklahoma City and after a few years, she owned and operated the Cafeteria at The OSDH until 1983. After retiring, she worked at a Latvian Youth Camp out of Three Rivers, Michigan for 7 years and ran the Commissary. She loved people, her various dogs and cats, hosting parties, gardening, and was very active in the First Lutheran Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Juris, four brothers, one sister, and her parents. Milda is survived by her son, Valdis (Walt) Henkuzens and his wife Leslie.
