Aunt Mildred and Uncle Acy were two of my favorites! I miss them both! I went to many hockey games with their son Larry who is my cousin!

As Larry's stepson, I was out of the house when he joined our family.  So, unfortunately, I never really had the honor of truly getting to know Mildred, except for the amazing homemade chocolates she would always bring.  Although I didn't know Mildred very well, I know she must have been a truly wonderful person, because the person she raised her son to be is such a kind and caring person.  Jenny and I feel blessed to have known her as much as we did, and will continue to hold her memory in our hearts with Larry.

As Larry's step-daughter, I have many great memories of Mildred. I remember her spending Christmas with us in Virginia several years ago and commenting when she opened one of her Christmas gifts (a red decorative pin for her jacket) “oh I don't have anything red.” This makes us laugh because every time we saw Mildred, she was wearing red. And who could forget the assortment of chocolate candy she would send at Christmas time; my favorite was always the caramel turtles.
We have funny memories of her playing board games and making us laugh. I also think about her every time I am getting on the interstate and going around an on-ramp as she would say “we are up on two wheels” if someone was driving a little too fast.  Although this memory was not made with me personally, I still think of her saying that to this day. 
Mildred is loved and will be missed dearly.

Mildred was my aunt.  She always had a wonderful servant attitude.  Giving from her garden, inviting me over for tea and always attending family functions.
She also spoke often & with delight about her son Larry.  She was very active in her church & a devout christian woman and her walk displayed that without a doubt.  Mildred & my mother (Ruby Helen Jantz) got together occasionally for lunch & they always enjoyed each other's company.
For some reason it was funny seeing her drive Uncle Acey's El Camino.  You definitely knew it was Mildred when she pulled up in the drive! 
What a mighty woman of God she was.

Mildred was my mother in law from 1974 to 1999. She was always respectful of our need to establish our own lives together.  A trip to her home was a gastronomical treat. She made the best fried okra to be found but her expertise was in making desserts, especially blackberry cobbler.  She grew up cooking for her own family and never lost that talent. She loved her yard and endured the never ending battle with squirrels stealing her fruit. She was meticulous in keeping her home and herself in near perfect condition. She was also very brave and learned to drive at the age of 59 after the death of her husband.
