Nicole, known to all as Nikki, passed away at her home on August 8, 2022. She was born November 10, 1967, in Kankakee, Illinois, to James Westerhoff and Diana (Palma) Westerhoff-Jones. She grew up in Bourbonnais, Illinois until her family relocated to Oklahoma City in 1982. Nikki graduated in 1986 from Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City, OK. She attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of Central Oklahoma earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.
Nikki’s children and grandchildren were the absolute loves of her life, and she was never happier than when she was surrounded by them. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with family and friends, and no more loyal a friend could you ever have than Nikki. A kind, beautiful, free spirit, Nikki was genuine – she was not afraid to speak her mind and was fiercely protective of those she loved. She enjoyed rock-n-roll and country music and LOVED to dance. Nikki’s face would light up when she would reminisce and tell old stories about family and friends.
Nikki is survived by her husband Alton Sanders, Jr.; children Tanner Adkins (Kristynna), Courtney Nicole Bowie (JC), and Kyd Sanders; and her grandchildren Cora and Tera Adkins. She is also survived by her brothers James Westerhoff (Misty) and William Westerhoff; sisters Lisa Stanbury (Brent), Stephanie Worrell, Lyndsey Gibson and Sara Hibdon; mom Rebecca Westerhoff; sisters-in law Kim Pope (Mike) and Sissy Stark (Danny); uncles John Westerhoff and Thomas Westerhoff (Sally); Aunt Jane Westerhoff; cousins Tami Kinkade (Jeff), Andy Westerhoff Jr., Steve Westerhoff (Jamie), Paul Westerhoff, Rick Westerhoff, Jason Westerhoff, Jake Westerhoff (Michelle), John Westerhoff (Mitzi); nephews Eric Stanbury, Evan Stanbury, Ryan Westerhoff, Drew Westerhoff, Paul Anop, Mark Anop, Tanner Ragsdale, Randy Milspaugh, Rigel Baker, Ryan Davis and Jay Pope; nieces Madison Westerhoff, Brandi Pope Collins and Misty Moser. She will be missed by her fur babies, Missy and Puff; and granddogs Zelda, Skeika and Xhylus. Nikki also leaves behind many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Marvin and Norma Westerhoff and Bonna Palma; her parents James Westerhoff and Diana Westerhoff-Jones; her second parents Kenneth and Jo Adkin; Great Grandma Jane West; Uncle Andy Westerhoff; Aunt Joan Westerhoff; as well as cousins, Ty Westerhoff and Dennis Westerhoff.
Nikki’s happy place was the lake, and we are planning a Celebration of Nikki’s life at the East Sentinel Shelter at Lake Thunderbird, in Norman, OK., Saturday, October 8th at 5 pm.
