Norbert “Norbie” E. F. Gordon, 91, passed away November 23, 2016, in Oklahoma City. He was born November 29, 1924, to Harry Gordon and Sophie Ravel Gordon. A lifelong Oklahoma City resident, Norbie attended Classen High School. In 1946, he graduated from Oklahoma City University where attended on a scholarship and would carry a lifelong love for his alma mater. After college, Norbie began working for his uncle, Oklahoma City jeweler Samuel Gordon, as a diamond salesman. He eventually went into business for himself as a diamond wholesaler and traveled the country, most often aboard his favorite mode of transportation, a train. After spending more than 30 years as a salesman, Norbie embarked on his second career as a successful real estate investor in Oklahoma City.
In his later years, Norbie enjoyed reminiscing about his days traveling the country by rail. He was also passionate about the arts and delighted in reflecting on his favorite ballet and opera performances and art exhibits. Norbie had a great love for animals and compassion for those in need. He was very frugal and rarely thought of himself first, but those who knew him were moved by his thoughtfulness and zest for life. Memorial Services will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2016 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Chapel. Mr. Gordon will be inurned at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation Fund for Norbert Gordon.
Arrangements under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, Oklahoma City, OK.
