

Nula, better known as Yia Yia, went to be with the Lord and all the family she loved who went before her on May 10, 2010. She was born May 6, 1917, to Chris and Sophia Panoplos. She married James "Jimmy" Stamatis in 1938, and together started American Cleaners and Laundry in 1939 at 4th and Broadway. Nula's life was centered around their 3 sons , Chris, John and Dean and the extended family. After Jimmy's death in 1956, she began working at the cleaners which she continued to do until she was 84. She will be remembered for a life of service to her family and the Greek community and for the many unforgettable meals she loved to serve. Yia Yia's table was a special place around which the family gathered. She was the matriarch and a model of strength of character and perseverance. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy, sons, John and Dean, sisters Georgia Polychron and Artemis Limber. She leaves behind her son, Chris and wife, Meg of Edmond, daughter-in-law, Mary Nell Stamatis of Springfield, MO. Her grandchildren are Jay Stamatis and wife Jean of Thousand Oaks, CA, Katy Stamatis Golik and husband Nathan of Dallas, TX, Justin Stamatis and wife Kelli of Edmond, OK, Ryan Stamatis and wife Brooke of Cambridge, UK, and Kristin Stamatis Brawley and husband Brandon of Edmond, OK. She has 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews from her beloved Limber and Polychron families. Trisagion service will be 7:00p.m. Sunday evening at Hahn-Cook Funeral Home and funeral service l0:00 a.m. Monday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
