

Olan had a long working career and enjoyed doing a variety of things. He worked as a Deaner at Baptist Hospital 1979 to 1981 where he met his wife Mary. He went to work as a custom jeweler from 1981 until 1990 before working at Fields Jewelry while attending UCO and OSU at the same time. Olan then began his long career in law enforcement. He was hired at Forest Park as a reserve officer. From there he moved to Spencer PD where his Allen brother also worked. When he completed Cleat training the department promoted him to patrol officer, then to Detective, and eventually to Police Chief; retiring in 2011. During retirement, Olan worked full time as Security Officer at Advantage Bank until 2016.
In his spare time, Olan enjoyed archery, fishing, watching westerns and guns.
Olan is preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Ina Boydstun and two brothers, Allen Boydstun and Larry Landis.
He is survived by his wife Mary E. Boydstun and his cat Toby, aunt, three nieces, three nephews, multiple cousins and many dear friends.
A service to celebrate Olan’s life will be 2 pm, Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home
