Patricia Ann Grigsby

February 3, 1930April 20, 2021

Patricia Ann Grigsby passed away peacefully at home in Oklahoma City, OK on Tuesday April 20, 2021 with her beloved family. She battled Alzheimer’s for many years, but now is at peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ eternally. Known by all as Pat, she was born February 3, 1930 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Ann Price McCleskey and Dale Reed. Pat had her childhood schooling at Ponca City. She and her mother Ann moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she attended the Monte Cassino School and graduated from Central High School. Her mother remarried Charles McCleskey who helped raise her as a teen. She also had a semester at Tulsa University. This was when she met her life’s love husband James L. Grigsby, Jr. (Jim). Pat and Jim were married in Tulsa December 18, 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church.

Pat and Jim made Oklahoma City, Oklahoma their home thereafter. Pat had three children over six years in the 1950’s. She raised them over the ensuing years with love, dignity and grace. She was an active housewife and most proud of that role as Mom. Pat was also avid in church and outside organizations and ministries, particularly those helping children and youth. She had a kind and generous spirit. Pat was devoted to Bible Study, and her deep faith in Jesus Christ was her passion.

Pat and Jim loved travel and so visited many spots around the continent and globe. They especially loved Colorado, where they in retirement moved full-time in 1999. They loved their wonderful home and land in Pagosa Springs, Colorado where they lived five years, returning to Oklahoma City to care for her mother. Pat and Jim had a quiet life near family for the rest of her life. She now has a new destination and companion, her Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven.

Pat is survived by her husband of seventy-one years Jim, her three children and spouses Denise Grigsby Gockel (John), James L. Grigsby III (Vivi), and Valerie Grigsby Hampton (Herb), her seven grandchildren- Bryant Davis, Shawna Molina, Chelsea Gockel, Jessica Grigsby, Sean Grigsby, Kelley Hampton and Claire Hampton, and five great-grandchildren- Grant Davis, Maggie Molina, Ashton Molina, Rory Joseph, and Conner Joseph. She is further survived by her cousin and friend Larie White and husband Doug plus a host of cousins and their children.

Pat was predeceased by her mother Ann McCleskey, stepfather Charles McCleskey, aunts Clarissa Heldenbrand and Gladys Trunk, and uncles John, Jim and Frank Price.

Greatest thanks and love to Caregivers Laura Ramos, Edith Alvarez, and Valeria Nunez and to Humanity Hospice, all for their caring and comforting hands and loving hearts. Pat Grigsby was our departmental secretary for many years at AT&T. Pat was always efficient and friendly to everyone. Pat worked for two department chiefs and about twenty technical people in both departments. She was always a busy person but enjoyed her work.

Pat Grigsby was a good friend and I will miss her.
