Born on March 4, 1937, in Washington County, North Carolina, Lynette was the daughter of Henry Louis Ange and Mary Isoline Ange. She grew up in a large and loving family alongside her brothers Jack, Charlie, Snookie, Donnie and Larry Ange, and her sisters Helen (Marie), Mary, and Betty Ann. She was lovingly known to her family as “Trish.”
In 1957, Lynette answered a lifelong calling to serve others by enrolling in The Salvation Army School for Officers' Training. That same year marked the beginning of a remarkable 45-year ministry with The Salvation Army. Her dedication to faith and service led her to various leadership roles throughout her career. In 1984, she became an Adult Rehabilitation Center Administrator—a position through which she touched countless lives with compassion and strength. She retired in 2002 after decades of unwavering commitment to helping those in need.
Lynette shared her life with her beloved husband Richard “Dick” McConniel until his passing in 1983. Together they built a family rooted in love and faith. She was a devoted mother to five children: Richard (Janeen) McConniel, David McConniel, Christine (Dan) Putnam, Jeff (Leanne) McConniel, and Michelle (Jim) Smith. Her legacy continues through numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were blessed by her warmth and guidance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dick; seven of her eight siblings (survived by brother Larry); daughter-in-law Kathy McConniel; and granddaughter Stevi McConniel.
A woman of deep conviction and gentle strength, Lynette will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by service to others.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held on September 13, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Salvation Army Lewisville Corps 880 Fox Ave, Lewisville, TX 75067. Lunch and personal tributes to follow in Fellowship Hall.
