I, Patricia Joan Tucker, passed away quietly on November 18, 2024, at the age of 93. I was born in OKC, OK in 1931 to my parents: Virginia and Fred Morgan Tucker. My grandparent were Dr. and Mrs. R.S. Parsons and G.M. Tucker and Tempe Tucker.
I attended Hawthorn grade school and Taft jr. high, where I was a member of the Kit Kat Club. I graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, TX in 1949. I attend OU, OSU, and graduated with a degree in Psychology from OCU, night school. When I was 19, my parents were critically injured in a head on collision by an asleep-at-the-wheel driver. At the time, I was being trained in tournament tennis at OCU. I had to quit in order to take care of my parents. After two years, I had to earn my room and board at OSU as a counselor at Stout Hall. It was short-lived as my mother needed me home. I began working OG&E (1955-1986), holding two positions: Data Processing and the sole Librarian. I contracted an Environmental Illness due to asbestos poisoning. I had to leave to save my life.
In my early years, I belonged to Epworth Methodist Church where my father played the organ. We left to start another church, May Ave Methodist Church, where they needed a piano player. It was originally a drive-in. Shortly after, my family moved to Dallas where we stayed three years until my high school graduation. After returning to OKC in 1950, we joined St. Luke’s Methodist church. There, I was active in the Epworth Class Sunday School for the 5 years olds. I remained at St. Luke’s until I became a member at Westminster Presbyterian church. I was active in the Care Team, Ushering and in charge of the drivers for Mobile Meals.
I was very active in three non-profits for a total of forty years. I was instrumental in the fundraising programs for: Infant Crisis Services (ICS), Contact OKC, now Heartline, and Areawide Aging Agency (AWAA). Sharing my personal gifts with these organization was a joy to me.
My hobbies included piano playing, tennis, ballroom dancing, and Bridge. I was on the OG&E bowling league and ping pong tournament. I enjoyed pursuing my interest in all of the above.
In lieu of flowers I request donations go to ICS, World Neighbors, or Central Oklahoma Humane Society.
A graveside service for Patricia will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73118.
