Joe Paul Belflower was born in Oklahoma City, OK, at St. Anthony’s Hospital on October 31, 1956. Paul had no problem placing family over everything else. Along with spending time with friends, golfing at Quail Creek, cheering on the "Pokes," nothing compared to his passion for his wife of 42 years, Robin, and their three children, Kylee, Adam, and Baylee.
Paul graduated from John Marshall High School, where he made lifelong friends. He was an athlete, playing several sports and excelling in wrestling. He attended Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1979 with an advertising degree. He cheered on the Cowboys where he met many of his best friends and the love of his life, Robin Norgaard Belflower of Stillwater, OK, and married in May 1980.
Paul recently retired as the VP of Marketing at Mustang Fuel Corporation where he devoted 30 years and fiercely advocated for Natural Gas. After retirement, he never slowed down and stayed busy with real estate and home projects. With the addition of grandchildren, Paul came to be known as J-Pa. J-Pa is a loving grandfather, coach, mentor and would do anything to support his family. He’s the beloved J-Pa of three beautiful and active grandkids; Garrison and Cameran Glaser and Hadlee Hoffman.
Growing up, Paul coached all his kid’s sports—baseball, soccer, and basketball. Most Saturdays, you could find him at Quail Creek Country Club with his golf group, the “Chili Dippers.” If OSU sports were on, he was watching the game with friends and supporting his Pokes. Paul touched everybody’s lives and made it a point to make all those he encountered feel important and special.
No words can describe the love he had for his family and friends—and they for him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Del Eugene Belflower and Ethelyn Jo Shields, and his brothers John and Steve Belflower. He is survived by his wife, Robin Belflower; his children, Kylee Glaser, Adam Belflower and Baylee Hoffman; his sister and brother-in-law, Dee and Joe Lunn; his mother and father-in-law, Gay and Ron Norgaard; and his sister and brother-in-law, Rikki and Randy Pittman. All of whom he loved so very deeply. He loved his children’s spouses like his own: John Glaser, Alex Belflower and Nathan Hoffman. Finally, his grandchildren are his proudest legacy: Garrison and Cameran Glaser and Hadlee Hoffman. We know you are looking down and coaching us through life.
A service will be held at Hahn-Cook in Oklahoma City on Friday at 2:00 pm followed by a gathering for friends and family at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club.
