Pebble Fern Terrell was born November 10, 1931 in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma, to Ervin B. Thomas and Myrtle Lee Thomas. She passed away on June 1, 2020. She grew up in Ft. Towson with her two brothers and a half sister, attending school in Ft. Towson until she graduated high school. Pebble was known to her friends as “Rocky”. A friend gave her that nickname after high school. Following graduation, she came to Oklahoma City and stayed with an aunt and uncle until she had a job and was able to get her own apartment. She went to work for Travelers Insurance Company where she was writing insurance contracts. She met her future husband, Dale, who was going to the University of Oklahoma. After their marriage on June 26, 1955 the couple started Dale Terrell Homes. The company, now Don Terrell Homes continues under the ownership of their son. Rocky worked as a bookkeeper for the company until very recently. In addition to Don, Rocky and Dale have a daughter, Joani Smith, who lives in Frederick, Oklahoma and works in the Tillman County Sheriff’s office in Frederick, Oklahoma. Rocky has 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Rocky and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially cruises. She loves OU football and Thunder basketball. Rocky and Dale owned a houseboat for 20 years and later built a house at Lake Eufaula. They spent weekends at the lake with family and friends, where she and Dale enjoyed fishing. Rocky and Dale were members of Church of the Servant. Rocky was a member of the Oklahoma Homebuilders Association Women’s Auxiliary. In 1979 she was awarded Woman of the Year by the State HBA Women’s Auxiliary. She and Dale were very supportive and involved in the many activities of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rocky decided to move to Epworth when she developed some health issues where she made new friends and enjoyed the activities there. Rocky is survived by her son, Don Terrell and his wife, Carla, daughter, Joani Smith and her husband, Jim, grandchildren Kari Waltrip and her husband, Ryan, Kevin Terrell and his wife, Danielle, Kim Gill and her husband, Nick, Jesse Smith, and four great grandchildren, Avery Waltrip, Aiden Terrell, Aria Terrell, and Grady Gill. She is also survived by her brothers Bill Thomas and Noel Thomas and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and a half sister, Helen Gomez. Visitation will be 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Friday, June 5, 2020 with family greeting friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Hahn-Cook/ Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Ext., Oklahoma City, OK. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Hahn-Cook/ Street & Draper Chapel with burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
