
Helen Margaret Crosswhite Burks Hale, 84, passed quietly on Monday, April 16, 2012, at Integris Hospice Home of Oklahoma City. “Peggy”, as she was known to her intimates, was born Helen Margaret Crosswhite on July 1, 1927, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to John S. Crosswhite and Helen Humphrey Crosswhite. The Crosswhite family settled in Oklahoma before statehood and Peggy was most proud of her Custer County heritage. She attended Monticello College in Godfrey, Illinois before marrying Mack S. Burks in 1946 and is survived by three children from that union: Cynthia Anne Burks Starling (John) of Fredericksburg, VA, Susan Hayes Burks Dina (Don) of Grapevine, TX and Margaret Carol Burks Hawk (Michael) of Centennial, Co. Peggy delighted in her grandchildren: John Lewis Starling, Jr, “Jay”, Gregory Joseph Dina (Heather), Carrie Michelle Hawk Scott (Glenn), Christopher Michael Hawk “Chris”, and her two great grandchildren, Chloe Michelle Scott and Logan Carter Stephens Dina.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents John S. and Helen H. Crosswhite, sister, Elizabeth Humphrey Overton, her husband Mack S. Burks, her second husband Arthur Jean Hale, and her sweet great granddaughter Mackenzie Len Hawk.
Services will be at Hahn- Cook/Street & Draper Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2pm.
