After attending high school at Putnam City West, Dean attended the University of Central Oklahoma and graduated with a bachelors degree in Accounting and Computer Science. He began his career interning and eventually working at Shawnee Oil & Gas. Later, he rose to the title of Vice President working at French Petroleum. During the midst of the 1985 oil bust, Dean and his partners founded Te-Ray Energy, Inc, now known as Te-Ray Resources. Dean grew his company over 36 years, eventually employing his son and daughter, Justin and Jenna. He was proud of the family business and enjoyed working side by side with his children.
Dean was devoted to his wife Beth. They married on June 19, 1980 and together they have two children and four grandchildren. Dean loved spending time with family, especially at Lake Eufaula, the 4th of July and fireworks, watching movies, playing golf, trips to Vegas and Aspen, the Atlanta Braves and OKC Thunder Basketball. He spent most of his children’s youth as a volunteer Board Member of the Tri-City Optimist youth sports league and coaching their little league baseball and basketball teams. Dean was thankful for the many players and their families who became lifelong friends during this time.
In recent years, Dean’s greatest joys were traveling with Beth and watching their grandchildren laugh, play and have fun. Lovingly referred to as Pops, he spent many hours watching their sports activities and finding ways to bring joy to their lives.
Dean will forever be admired for his loving nature and commitment to all he cared for. He put his family first in all aspects of his life and will be remembered as a remarkable husband, father and grandfather.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents, brother Billy Manning and sister Linda Manning.
Dean is survived by his wife of 41 years, Beth Manning; son Justin Manning and his wife Lindsey; daughter Jenna Harlow and her husband Joshua; four grandchildren: Madeline, Lucy and Andrew Manning and Walker Harlow. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces, their children and numerous friends and business associates.
