Rachel was born on October 14, 1982, to Donna Belle White and Charles Ross in Tulsa, OK. At about age seven, she and her mother, and now little brother, Matthew, moved to live in Oklahoma City in 1989. As a child, Rachel was carefree, happy, and loved being outside more than anywhere, whether it was chasing butterflies, flying kites or fishing with her momma. She loved being “the big sister” to her siblings and showing them the wonders of the world outside.
Rachel attended high school at Choctaw High School through the 9th Grade. Soon after starting 10th Grade, she decided life was just too exciting to spend so much time inside a classroom, so she left school. Over the next few years Rachel gave birth to five children: Four boys and One girl. Though they could not always be with her, Rachel loved each of her children with her whole heart from birth to the day she left this earth for her Forever Heavenly Home. She also loved anything pink or purple and sometimes that even meant her HAIR! She enjoyed listening to classic rock and spending her days with friends and family – OUTSIDE – and helping others. She loved getting to visit with her kids and family, being outside tending to her plants and flowers, gardening, watching her squirrel friends, designing crafts or flowerpots with old logs, and just helping others.
She set quite an example for her younger siblings. They have each learned invaluable life lessons from Rachel, including things like “how to sneak past Mom” and “get away with stuff” and how to “stand up for yourself;” especially when you are living in a house full of boys! Things like making your own grilled cheese sandwiches, because big sisters make the best, and how to make better life choices for themselves. Most of all, they learned that sometimes it is the “little things” in life that mean the absolute most after all. Rachel loved to laugh! She loved a good joke and laughing at funny accidents people would have. Jeremiah and Matthew could always get a laugh out of her, and she loved laughing at “Matthew’s face” …. according to their siblings.
Rachel loved to greet people with her big, beautiful smile. When you think of her, her family would like you to see her beautiful smile and remember her as someone who, even in the darkest of times in life, could find something good to share with others. That she would give what little she had to help make someone else’s life a little better or easier. And, that while she may not be with us here in this Earth, she will always be in our hearts and she is happy, healthy, and whole living an eternal life in Heaven with Jesus, her Savior.
Rachel was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Richard Ross; her paternal grandmother, LuCindia Ross; her maternal grandfather, Kenneth White and his wife Yvonne White; her maternal grandmother, Rachel Wilson; and several aunts and uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her father, Charles “Pudge” Ross, of Lawton; her mother, Donna Belle White; three brothers: Matthew Ralph, Joseph White, and Donne White, all of Oklahoma City; one sister, Lacy White, of Midwest City; two nephews; two nieces; and, a slew of cousins, friends, and extended family of all ages.
Rachel’s family would like to say an incredibly special “Thank You” to her wonderful friend, Teresa Clark. Rachel wanted to spend her last days at Teresa’s, and she welcomed Rachel with open arms and an open heart. Words cannot express how much your care for Rachel and your years of friendship have meant.
After care services for Rachel are provided by Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 N.E. 23rd St., Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A Celebration of Life Event for Rachel will be held at her mother’s home: Donna White, 5612 S.
