Ranita Faye Taylor, 63, passed away on August 11, 2021 in Oklahoma City. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Gracie Faye Johnston and Walter Donald Johnston. She was a very hard worker, often selflessly working multiple jobs to support her family. She had a long career with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and had recently retired and relocated to Minco, Oklahoma, to be closer to her sister. Ranita was close to her family and friends, always enjoying regular Sunday meals with her family as well as get-togethers with friends. Ranita was a country girl at heart, from country music to cowboy décor and even recently trying her hand at the banjo. She was an incredibly proud grandmother and loved to visit her son and his family whether for Christmas celebrations or summer trips that would include trips to the wine country, trying out yoga, playing games, and listening to her granddaughter play the saxophone, piano and guitar. She is survived by her son Shane Hamby, his wife Lorraine and their daughter Mila; her sister LaDonna Morton, her husband David; her brother Terry Johnston and his wife Janet and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and sister Charlotte. She was a member of Minco First Baptist Church.
