

Reo Lavern Burroughs, age 90, of Oklahoma City passed into eternal life on January 26, 2016, and joined his beloved wife of 43 years, Bess. He died at home surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Born to Maggie Maybelle and Charles Warren Burroughs on September 13, 1925, in Red Oak, OK, he grew up in Oklahoma City as one of 13 children and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1943.
Reo served in the US Navy as a corpsman during World War II. His first assignment was on the USS LST 51 which made multiple trips across the English Channel for the D-Day invasion, treating and carrying wounded soldiers back to England. He later served aboard the USS Thurston and in Oran, North Africa.
Reo worked at Oklahoma Gas and Electric for more than 40 years, retiring in 1987. He married Bess Irene McKenzie on November 1, 1957, and they spent many happy years together until her death in 2002. He always enjoyed sports, especially basketball and bowling. He loved going to his grand-children's sporting events, and enjoyed many exciting trips to Las Vegas always returning with prizes for the grandkids.
Reo was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and six brothers.
He is survived by his daughter Nancy, husband Tom Shurley, of Denver, CO, their daughters Jennifer, husband Stuart Campbell and Ashley; his daughter Janie of Dallas, TX; his son David, wife Lori of Edmond, OK and their children Josh, wife Amy, Bryan, Kyle and Rachel, husband Sean Ralston; and son Deron, wife Lisa of Mustang, Oklahoma and their son Jacob. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Carter and McKenzie Ralston and Alyssa Burroughs; and sisters Virginia, Dorothy, and Veneda.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. He will be buried next to his wife in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be Friday, January 29, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper.
