

Rita F. Garrett, 90, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away February 5th. She was born in Okeene, OK May 5, 1924 to Rector and Lottie Shinn. The family moved to Deer Creek and later to Edmond.
Rita graduated from Edmond High School in 1942 and then attended Blackwood Davis Business College while working at Sears. She married Floyd L. Garrett on November 30, 1943 and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage until his passing. Together they owned and operated Garrett’s School Bus Transportation until retiring in 1986. The couple was faithful members of Mimosa Heights Christian Church for 45 years with Floyd serving as Chairman of the Board as well as serving on the Board of Directors of Midwest Christian College for many years. Rita was treasurer of Mimosa Heights Christian Church for many years and later moved her membership to Jones Christian Church. Rita was a dearly regarded volunteer at the Omniplex for 15 years.
Rita is survived by a sister, Nada Richert of Tulsa; 3 children: Richard Lee Garrett of Oklahoma City, Linda Sue Lewis and husband Dean of Stillwater, and Dale Edward Garrett and wife Jonna of Spirit Lake, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, Jeffrey Garrett and wife Trish; Stacey Breitmann and husband Todd; Daniel Lewis and wife Bobbi Kay; Nathan Garrett and wife Jennifer; Christopher Garrett and wife Jennifer; Alison Garrett; Kevin Garrett and wife Alethia; and Jon and Dalton Garrett; and 5 great-grandchildren: Heidi and Haley Breitmann; Ava and Ian Trimboli; and Cora Garrett.

Services in Memoriam will be held at 2:00 p.m. on February 9, 2015 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 N.E. 23rd, Okla. City, OK. with burial to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, Oklahoma.
