Robert Rankin Shaw, passed away on September 3, 2018, at the age of 89. Bob, the son of the late Allen Reese and Oreta Moore Shaw, was born December 11, 1928 in Wilson County, North Carolina. He was a resident of Oklahoma City since 1968.
Bob graduated from Central High School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1946, received his BS in Business in 1951 from University of Kansas where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega, and an MBA from Tulsa University in 1966. Bob was commissioned in 1952 as a Lieutenant [junior grade] in the US Navy and later as Commander of Supply Corps in the US Navy Reserves, retiring in 1988.
Bob is predeceased by his wife of 44 years Mary Frances Hollingsworth. They were married on September 4, 1954 in Akron, Ohio, and resided in Bartlesville until moving to Oklahoma City in 1968. Bob is survived by his son, Harry Allen, and son, John Robert and wife Gail, and five grandchildren, Stephanie Madsen, Matt Shaw, Todd Shaw, Spencer Shaw and Preston Shaw and great grandson, Breck Madsen.
Bob was a Certified Government Financial Manager and worked as the Comptroller of Veterans Affairs for the State of Oklahoma until his retirement. Bob enjoyed bridge and was a member of various bridge groups in the community. He also traveled extensively all over the United States and Europe. He was a musician and was quite the socialite, strongly supporting the arts of Oklahoma, particularly the Symphony.
Family visitation will be Friday 6 - 8 pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City. Memorial services will be Saturday 10 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4400 N Shartel, Oklahoma City.
