Robert Alvin Clayton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was born on August 8, 1939 in Newalla, Oklahoma to Clyde and Lena Clayton. He passed away on October 30, 2023, surrounded by his family in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 84.
He is survived by his Wife of 65 years, Wynona Lynette Clayton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 2 Sons, Jackie Clayton and wife, Debbie of Nicoma Park, Oklahoma and Lance Clayton and wife, Susan of Aurora, Missouri; 1 Daughter, Melenda (Sissy) Clayton-Hamersley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and 1 daughter-in-law, Sheryl Clayton of Jones, Oklahoma; 13 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Lena Clayton; son, Robby Clayton; daughter, Pamela Williams; son-in-law; Rick Hamersley; brother, Clyde Jr. and 3 sisters, Ila Lee, Lila Mae, and Lillie Bell.
Robert attended Midwest City Schools. He was a member of Life Church formally known as Union Grove Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His life’s work was spent in construction, including custom home building and automobile and small engine mechanics.
He married Wynona Lynette Clayton (Price) on June 11, 1958; they had 4 biological children, Robby, Pamela, Lance and Melenda. They also raised 5 other children they had guardianship of: Jackie, Sharon, Lance Jr., Michael and Felicha Clayton. He was always willing to open his home for anyone needing a family to love them.
Robert loved spending time with his family, which meant loading up the motor home and boat for a fun-filled weekend camping at Lake Texoma. He spent long hot summer days in the boat because there was a never-ending line onshore who were waiting for the next ride, whether it was water skiing, inner tubing or riding the crazy sled he made. He always took his kids for at least one week-long vacation in the motor home across the United States. With 6 children, he always made sure the KOA campground had something for each child to enjoy.
Robert also loved riding his Gold Wing motorcycle to attend motorcycle rallies and taking trips across the United States, as well as bowling tournaments and leagues with his wife and friends.
Robert made awesome memories with his family that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
