At home with his beloved wife, Kim, Bob was unexpectedly called home to the Lord. When his big ol’ heart stopped, so did a wickedly keen sense of humor, and brilliant mind that observed the world in an abstract, yet very perceptively pragmatic fashion.
A native Montanan, Bob was born in Dillon, and was raised and attended schools in Sheridan. During his senior year, Bobby transferred to Hood River, Oregon with his Dad due to a new job. He completed High School in Hood River with the class of 1986.
Bobby then went on to College at the Oregon Institute of Technology, where he completed two Bachelor of Science degrees in Electronics and Computer Systems. During college, Bobby loved to ski and spent most of his weekends hitting the slopes. He was happiest when he was outside enjoying nature and the great outdoors.
After college, Bob returned to Southwestern Montana and worked a series of different jobs. It was there he met his wife Kim, and they would be together for 20 years, married 16, until his passing. Kim and Bob moved to Enid, Oklahoma to be near her family, and Bobby enjoyed spending time with his in-laws; so much so, that Kim’s Grandfather was Bob’s best man at their wedding! He and Grandpa shared an interest in old cars and trucks. Bob and Kim would often go for long drives in the country to scope out antique vehicles and just enjoy a road trip. Bob held a variety of jobs and was never afraid to go were the work was, even if it was far out of his professional educational realm. He liked his seasonal job with the Forest Service the most as it allowed him to be outside. He enjoyed his volunteer work building homes with Habitat for Humanity immensely and Kim was very proud of the work he did for them. Kim and Bobby where deeply committed to each other and loved each other very much. Where one was, the other wasn’t far behind. There are no words to describe the loss Kim feels.
Bobby leaves behind his beloved and deeply heartbroken wife Kim Gage Simonsen, their kitties Charlie and Tinkerbell, his parents- in- law, Imogene and Edward Gage; brother- in -law, Ray Gage all of Enid, Ok. He is survived by his father, Ken Simonsen(Joyce) of Challis, Id; Mother, Ann Passmore Simonsen of Lima, Mt; Sister, Julie Simonsen of Wind River, Wy; Nephew, Chase Simonsen(Sarah) and family of Shelby, Mt. As well as numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bob’s life will take place at a later date in Montana. Condolences may be sent to the family home at 113 South Murrary St. Helena, Ok. 73741
