Robert Mitchell Young born February 17th, 1924 in Oglesby, Oklahoma, son of Minelous William Young and Mary Irene Eastman Young Wells lived 89 years full of life before going to be with our Father on February 28th, 2013. After enlisting and serving in the Navy to defend our freedom in the conflict of World War Two Robert settled in Midwest City, where he was employed at Tinker Field as a heat and air technician. With his capable hands he built the home where he and his wife Mary raised their six wonderful daughters. At any given time but always at holidays the home was filled to overflowing with family, the aroma of Mary’s outstanding home cooking enticing you inside to a table that would have made the Walton’s proud. Aside from his family, Robert’s next love was cattle. Specifically the Gelbvieh breed which he raised on his ranch near Tishomingo. Being a man who embraced the work a challenge brought, Robert found many hours of pleasure finding solutions to the problems cattle ranching presented. When you met Robert and saw the twinkle in his eyes and felt the strength in his handshake, you knew you had met a man you could count on. Robert was preceded in death by his parents as well as four brothers and 2 sisters. Survivor Robert are his wife of sixty-six years Mary Young, six daughters, Elaine Young of Ketchum, Oklahoma; Patricia Rogers of Long Beach, California; Carolyn and her husband Gary Burd of Amarillo, Texas; Donna and her husband Todd Henry of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Phillis and her husband Doug Roll of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Robyn Young of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mileta Virden of Ochelata, Oklahoma; and Helen Buttman of Michigan; one brother, Leroy Young of Ochelata, Oklahoma; and a number of nieces and nephews. Following Military Honors burial will be in Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, Oklahoma. As a family we extend our heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of love shown by so many of you during this time of grief.
