He was preceded in death by his parents Jewel (Moose) and Albert Carlile (Judy and Al) of Oklahoma City, paternal grandparents Nancy (Simmons) and Hubbard Carlile of Mineola, Texas, maternal grandparents Myrtle (Rose) and Daniel Moose of Oklahoma City.
He is survived by his daughter, Meghan Jenkins of Huntington Beach, California, his sister, Carol Carlile, his sister Sandra Carlile Webb, special brother-in-law, Glenn Webb, special nieces and nephews Kim, Glenn Jr., Kevin, Scott, Zachary, Mason, and Gentry of New York, Colorado, Massachusetts and Oklahoma.

A Marine, he served in Vietnam 1968-1969, where he was awarded a medal of valor, the Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star for exceptional acts of courage in battle. He was 19 years old.
In civilian life, Ron loved his time in California and in Oklahoma City as a mental health counselor, and later, he considered it a privilege to work with children at Plaza Towers elementary school. He cared for our mother, moving into her home to stay with her, nursing her 24 hours-a-day for the year of sickness prior to her death. He was kind, generous and self-sacrificing, devoted to his family and friends. And, he unwaveringly held fast to his opinions.
Always a deep thinker, his poetry was published in “Mirrors of the Wistful Dreamer”, “Dreams of the Heroic Muse”, “Images of the Mystic Truth”, and “Journeys of the Poet/Prophet”.
Ron felt honored to have Native American DNA from his 4x great-grandmother. Though diluted by several generations, he embraced it with pride. He was a collector of all things Cherokee. He enjoyed preforming for friends by playing music on a simple Native American reed flute. Additionally, he delighted in entertaining with his harmonica. He loved Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan lyrics and music. A lifelong passionate, OU football fan, he did not miss a game that was on radio or televised for more than 60 years. OU clothing was a staple of his wardrobe, he even wore an OU protective face mask during his last months.
Following a Memorial Service and an Interment Ceremony with Military Honors on June 14, 2021, Ron will rest at Fort Sill National Cemetary in Elgin, Oklahoma.
