Rubin Birger Millerborg, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully in his home on May 13, 2026, surrounded by his family. Rubin was born in Houston, Texas, November 24, 1935, to Rubin Birger Millerborg, Sr. and Lois Jean Millerborg. When he was two months old, his family moved to Oklahoma City where he has resided for 90 years. Rubin graduated from Putnam City High School where he was a member of the 12-year Club.
Rubin received a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from Oklahoma State University. While at OSU he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Rubin then attended Oklahoma City University where he earned a Juris Doctorate degree. Rubin went on to serve in the Oklahoma Air National Guard.
In 1963, Rubin married Martha Ann James, and they have been blessed with two children Jim and Mary Ann. He enjoyed diversifying his talents in several different careers. He worked as an engineer for the city of Oklahoma City where he was resident engineer for construction of All Sports Stadium, home of the Oklahoma City 89er baseball team. After several years with an architectural firm, he worked as a design engineer for Star Manufacturing. Pursuing his interest in cars, he purchased a Lincoln, Mercury, Datsun dealership in Bartlesville, OK. Also, he served as legal counsel for the Benham Group of Oklahoma City and then established his own law practice specializing in product liability. Nearing retirement, Rubin entered the homebuilding business and enjoyed designing and building new homes. In addition, using his talents, he was instrumental in relocating the 100-year-old Piedmont United Methodist Church to a new site and overseeing the construction of a new church. Also, he served on the board of Epworth Villa retirement community assisting in the expansion of its facilities.
With his special interest in cars, Rubin enjoyed driving his 1934 Packard and 1935 Buick. Rubin won some special prizes at car shows and parades and delighted sharing car stories and pictures with anyone who would listen. He often said his wife married him because he had a 1962 red Chevrolet convertible.
Rubin enjoyed traveling with friends throughout the United States and abroad. He said his favorite trip was touring the Holy Lands. He was a dedicated reader of the daily newspaper, routinely completing both the crossword puzzle and the cryptoquote.
Rubin loved his family dearly and is survived by his loving wife, Ann; son Jim (Tiffany), their children Kylie Aelker (Jake) and great-granddaughter Annie Mae, Brant (McKenna) and Ellie; daughter Mary Ann Sanders (Tim), and their children Craig and Gracie; also his sister Jean Burchett; as well as nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, May 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26 at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Nichols Hills United Methodist Church, Piedmont United Methodist Church or Putnam City Schools Foundation.
Pallbearers will be Jim Millerborg, Brant Millerborg, Tim Sanders, Craig Sanders, Jake Aelker, Mike Padgham, Jeff Owens, and Buddy Belt.
