Ruth Levy Bravo was a petite beauty with a big smile and a kind word for everyone. She grew up in Dallas, the middle of seven children of Aaron and Freda Levy, who came from Damascus, Syria, and Cairo Egypt, respectively. She was valedictorian of her high school class, and turned down a full scholarship to college to work for UNESCO in Mexico City. In 1949, she married the love of her life, Robert Bravo, and they were married until his passing in 2003. Theirs is a love story made in heaven that spans beyond this life. Ruth loved and was proud of their four children: Jan, Joan, Mark, and Vikki, and loved and admired their spouses Mike, Leslie, and Gerry. She adored her grandchildren Michelle and Josh, and has had much joy in watching them grow into kind, generous, and caring adults. She greatly enjoyed the blessing of her Murray grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her dog and dear companion Sherry and her grand dog Samson. Ruth and Bob enjoyed traveling, and they mostly enjoyed just being together. They worked side by side running Uncle Sam's Pawn Shop from shortly after they were married until the shop's closing in 1999. They encouraged their children to follow their dreams, gave them every opportunity to do so, and they were proud of their accomplishments. Ruth was an active and involved member of the Jewish community, serving on the boards of Emanuel Synagogue and the Jewish Federation. She was a regular at morning minyan for a number of years. She loved Judaism and she loved being near the Torah. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, sister, and aunt, a talented businesswoman and devoted member of the Jewish community. We will miss your smiling face and we will always carry it in our hearts. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Emanuel Synagogue with interment in Emanuel Hebrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Respect Diversity Foundation (2808 W.
