Ruth Marie (Seebeck) Sharp, 83, of Paden, passed away January 5, 2025 with family by her side in Oklahoma City. She battled many health challenges the last several years. Services will be at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home (NE 23rd) on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City, OK.
Ruth was born January 16, 1941 near Wellston, OK to Earnest Bernhart and Ida Elizabeth (Hodde) Seebeck. She spent most of her adolescence around McLoud, OK. She graduated from McLoud High School in 1959.
She married Clifton Lee Johnson on April 2, 1965. They had a daughter, Terri, before Clifton passed on January 22, 1969. Ruth later married Carl (Bill) Bailey Sharp on May 14, 1976. They had a son, Brian. She cared for Carl until his death on December 28, 2010.
She worked at several department stores and at Tinkerfield for a short time as a keypunch operator before doing the only job she ever listed as her occupation; and that was housewife and homemaker. After Brian was in school, she worked as a substitute teacher when called upon for several years. She also worked during elections for the county election board for over 30 years. She started as a “counter” when they counted votes by hand, worked absentee voting, and a precinct superintendent until she physically couldn’t do it anymore. Her favorite job was being a mom and grandma. She loved being surrounded by family.
Ruth was a member of the Paden Homemakers Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) for over 35 years. She held many local and county OHCE offices. She volunteered many years at the county fair and at the Paden Fireman’s Picnic/Paden Day baking desserts and rolling the fish to be fried.
Ruth loved to go fishing, and as recent as just a few months ago. She enjoyed planting a garden and canning the vegetables for her family to enjoy. She sewed clothes for everyone in the family at one time or another, from MoBetta knock off shirts, matching outfits for the grandkids, a wedding dress, prom dresses, and even a quilt for her bed just a couple of years ago. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Leonard Seebeck and Lawrence Seebeck, and daughter-in-law, Sandra Sharp.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Terri Johnson of Paden, OK; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Joanna Sharp of Paden, OK; step-son Carl Richard Sharp of Moore, OK; granddaughter Amanda Sharp; grandson and wife Dalton and Brooke Sharp of Durant, OK; step-grandson Richard Sharp of Moore, OK; step-granddaughter Natalie Sharp of Moore, OK; six great-grandkids, Sarah, Blake, Jozie, Reba, Lakota, Blakelyn, and one on the way; great-great grandson, Leon ; and many other relatives and friends.
