Samuel Ray Bynum

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be honored with a funeral service to be held on Thursday, February 1st, 2024 at Eisenhour Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. in Spencer, Oklahoma.

Ray married Mary Martha Miller in July 1964. They had 3 children - Samuel Ray Bynum Jr, David Michael Bynum, and Martha Marie Meurer. He had 8 grandchildren: Ashley Gentry, Nathaniel Ryan Bynum, Christina Bynum, Justin Meurer, Andrew Bynum, Taylor Newlun, Zachary Bynum, Emilee Meurer, and 11 great-grandchildren: Mya Bynum, Aspen Robertson, Mason Bynum, Owen Bynum, Fynn Newlun, Olivia Bynum, Lennox Newlun, Ollie Newlun, Willow Meurer, Lillian Bynum-Truesdell, Lucas Nichols-Gentry, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the only Bethany state championship baseball team in 1955. He graduated from Bethany High School in 1957. Immediately after graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany shortly after. After completing his service with the military, he went to Draughon School of Business where he completed courses in accounting and met his loving wife, Mary Bynum. Ray then worked for Roach Lumber Company while taking day and night classes at Central State University, continuing his education and graduating with his Bachelor's Degree. He owned and operated a very successful roofing company, A Action Roofing. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching sports, helping those in need, and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A visitation for Samuel will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A committal will occur Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N Midwest Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73141.

Serving as pallbearers are Ray Bynum, Jr., Mike Bynum, Ryan Bynum, Justin Meurer, Andrew Bynum and Zach Bynum.
