Sandra “Kay” Burris of Choctaw, Oklahoma, passed away on July 2, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on December 19, 1971, to parents Isaac Burris and Mary Burris (proctor). Sandra got her GED and went onto work various jobs until she eventually found her home and career working in transportation for the Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District.
Her work led her to become a part of various associations within the Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District. She grew up worshipping at Central Baptist Church.
Sandra loved listening to a variety of music, such as R&B, gospel, and Native American artists. Many know that her favorite colors are turquoise, blue, and purple.
A perfect day for her consists of being surrounded by her family and talking or playing games. Spending time with her family is something she loves to do. Something that could always make her laugh was silliness and corny jokes. Sandra taught others not to hold hate in their hearts and to show kindness, patience, and generosity. Most people would remember her as selfless, passionate, caring, thoughtful, loving, and a follower of Christ.
She is survived by her children: April Brown (Colton Brown) of Spencer, Oklahoma; Andrew Burris (Kameron Glenn) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; AJ Burris (Jaidyn Hightower) of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Jada Burris of Choctaw-Nicoma Park, Oklahoma; siblings Haskell Burris of Choctaw-Nicoma Park, Oklahoma; Harold Burris of Choctaw-Nicoma Park, Oklahoma; and Winona Armstrong (James Armstrong) of Spencer, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren: Dalton; Elizabeth; Amara Brown; and Leona Burris; 7 nieces and 4 nephews.
A funeral service for Sandra will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. Following the funeral service will be a burial from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N Midwest Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
