After leaving home, she lived with her family in Florida, Montana, California, Mississippi, and Alabama, before settling down in Abilene in the 1980s. Sandra worked hard all her life, ultimately obtaining her cosmetology license and operating a thriving salon business with a loyal following of clients. In 2014, she retired and moved to Oklahoma City, where she shared a home with her sister and best friend, Shirley. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Henry James and Maybelle Perry James; her siblings, Billy James, Marvin James, Jr., and Linda Morris; and her son Steven Carl Flowers.
