

Sharla Marie Schooley, 38, of Edmond, went to be with her Lord March 10, 2010, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. The daughter of Al and Kay Contreras, Sharla was born in Ardmore, OK on April 30, 1971. Sharla was a proud graduate of The University of Oklahoma and a proud sister of Alpha Gamma Delta. She was a member of Oak Hills Free Will Baptist Church. Of all of her accomplishments, her greatest were her sons Samuel and Dane. In 2009, Sharla was the OU Panhellinic Alpha Gamma Delta Woman of the Year. She was a member of the Central Oklahoma Builders Association, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Chapter #260 and was one of the earliest members of the S.H.O.U.T. organization. Sharla was the inspiration for the formation of the Dallas based 3-day Walk Komen for the Cure Team-Sharla Schooley’s Angels. Sharla’s businesses included Darlington, Brighton, Avondale and Samrock Homes. She married Wally Dan Schooley on December 13, 1997. Sharla was very active in athletics and intramural teams. Sharla is survived by her husband Wally Schooley, her sons Samuel Contreras and Dane Champ Schooley; parents Al and Kay Contreras; sister Shelva and Kip Moore and their children Bryce and Addyson; brother Jason Contreras and partner Greg Trogstad; grandmother Elva Lou “GiGi” Hays; mother & father-in-law Jo Ann and Tommy Schooley; bro-in-law Willie Schooley; sis-in-law Sondra Brake as well as many nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends. Sharla loved many and was loved by all—she had the biggest heart. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday 8 am – 9 pm. Services will be 10 am, Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Crossings Community Chapel with interment in Gracelawn Cemetery.
