Sharon Lea Knight, 78, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at INTEGRIS Health Canadian Valley Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on September 9, 1946, in Edmond, Oklahoma, and graduated from Deer Creek High School in 1964. Sharon and Fred were married June 25, 1965, and shared their life in Piedmont as a hardworking farming couple. Their marriage was a testament to love, faith, and partnership, spanning nearly 60 years. A dedicated homemaker, Sharon created a warm and welcoming home where family and friends were always cherished. Beyond her home life, she had a passion for serving others and took on leadership roles that allowed her to make a meaningful impact. She spent 10 years as the Director of Volunteer Services at INTEGRIS Baptist Hospital, where she worked tirelessly to support and coordinate volunteer efforts that provided comfort and care to countless patients and families. Her generosity of spirit also extended to her church community, where she served for 8 years as the Director of Women’s Ministries at Church of the Servant, guiding and inspiring many women in their faith journeys. Sharon’s kindness, wisdom, and unwavering faith touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for her gentle heart, infectious smile, and steadfast devotion to her family and faith. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Beryl Deaton, as well as her brothers, Jim and Johnny Deaton. She is survived by her devoted husband, Fred Knight; her cherished sons and their wives, Lynn Knight and Samantha, and Jeff Knight and Michelle; and her adored grandchildren, Shelby McClendon and husband, Grant, Caleb, Jeffrey and Jayden Knight. She also leaves behind her precious great-granddaughter, Layla, and her loving sister, Harolyn Coker, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends. A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at Church of the Servant, 14343 N. MacArthur in Oklahoma City, on Monday, March 24, at 2:00 p.m. with a brief reception immediately after the service, followed by a graveside service at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8701 Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Sunday, March 23, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to Church of the Servant, INTEGRIS Health Baptist Volunteer Auxiliary, or a charity of your choice, as a way to continue Sharon’s legacy of generosity and service. Sharon’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her light will shine on in the lives of those she touched.
