

Born on February 22, 1944, in Oakland, California, Sharon was the daughter of Luther Cleveland Gray and Clara Belle Cramer Campbell. She received her GED and completed vocational studies in food safety and electronics. Sharon's life was marked by resilience, independence, and an unwavering dedication to her family.
After marrying and starting a family, Sharon moved from California to Oklahoma in 1969, where she and her husband raised their five children. Throughout the years, she also lived in Jones, Yukon, and Mustang before eventually returning to California. It was California where she remarried Richard “Rich” Lewis Vigil in November,1987. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sharon was a woman of grace who chose to focus on the bright side of life and hold no grudges. Those who knew her will remember her kind spirit, her independence, and her ability to find joy in simple pleasures. She loved animals, enjoyed music from the 1950s, favored the colors purple and green, and never turned down the chance to enjoy Burger King and desserts. Her children brought her immense happiness and laughter.
A faithful member of the Catholic Church, Sharon lived a life centered on faith, family, and compassion. One of her proudest accomplishments was watching her family grow through the generations and being present to enjoy her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sharon was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy S. Payne, the father of her children, her second husband, Richard "Rich" Vigil in November 2020 as well as her son, Bart M. Payne.
She is survived by her children Terry M. Payne of Edmond, Oklahoma, Richard K. Payne ("Rick") Payne of Del City, Oklahoma; Lena (Payne) Hacker and husband Paul E. Hacker of Mustang, Oklahoma and Luther, Charles "Charlie" Payne and wife Lisa Payne of Piedmont, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her brother, Bart (Uncle Money) Gray and wife Kathy Gray of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one niece; three nephews; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Sharon's legacy of love, strength, forgiveness, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, September 18, 2026 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
