Skylar Zane Hammer-Pendergraft, 20, of Piedmont, Oklahoma, has departed this world and has been called home on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Skylar was born in Enid, Oklahoma on December 26, 1997 to Brent Pendergraft and Vanessa Hammer. He attended schools in Piedmont, Choctaw, and Canadian Valley Technology Center, in which he was pursuing a career as a diesel mechanic. Skylar was a loving son and brother, a dedicated boyfriend and wonderful friend to all.

While Skylar had many hobbies, his absolute passion was being outdoors. From hunting, fishing, riding his four-wheelers and dirt bikes, or even just spending his time with friends and family at Canton Lake. If he wasn’t playing his Xbox, you could always find him looking for something to do outside. Skylar also loved spending time with his dog, Bentley Wayne and Grayson the cat. He cherished his moments he had with his girlfriend, Jordan Johnson, whom he would often call his “little ground squirrel” and he was so very proud when it came time to move into his first new apartment with her. He loved being an independent adult as they began their lives together. Skylar was a part of the Boy Scouts growing up and attended Life Church.

Skylar wasn’t like just any other ordinary kid. He was unique and always his authentic self. His laugh was contagious and his quirky smile could light up an entire room. He could talk to anyone and never knew a stranger. Greeting his friends and family with a hug and leaving them with an “I love you”, was his routine; he will truly be missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jack Hammer.

Skylar is survived by his father, Brent Pendergraft and wife Haley; mother, Vanessa Hammer; significant other, Jordan Johnson; brothers, Jake Ward and Dylan Ward of Choctaw, OK; sisters, Mazie Hammer of Piedmont, OK and Savanna Pendergraft of Choctaw, OK; grandparents, Teresa Hammer, Sharon Gudan, Michael Gudan, Mark Pendergraft, and Kim Pendergraft.

A celebration of life will be held in honor of Skylar’s life on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the CHK|Central Boathouse, 732 Riversport Dr., Oklahoma City, OK 73129.

What a good dude gone way too soon! Skylar was an incredible Scout who loved the outdoors! As his Scoutmaster I was impressed with his kindness, gentleness and infectious smile! He truly lived by the Scout Oath and Law. I shall miss him greatly!

Our hearts are so broken and sad that Skylar is no longer with us. We love Skylar so much! He was the sweetest young man so thoughtful and caring. When my mom(his grandmother) was passing away Skylar and Jordan made a special trip to Enid to see her. That meant the world to me and my family and my precious mother. I know Skylar and my mom are celebrating being reunited. Skylar will forever be loved and missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Brent and Haley, Sharon
and Michael and all the family. Love forever and always, Aunt Vicki and Uncle Bobby

I always loved any time I got to spend with Skylar. He always made me laugh, and it was easy to make him laugh back. I will forever think of him every time I see any Hurley apparel. I missed him before he was gone, and now I'll never get to hug that sweet boy again.

To Sharon and Family

I am sorry for your lost. I am sure if Skylar was anything like his grandmother he always carried a bright smile.

Please remember:
For each thorn, there’s a rosebud…
For each twilight — a dawn…
For each trial — the strength to carry on,
For each storm cloud — a rainbow…
For each shadow — the sun…
For each parting — sweet memories when sorrow is done.
…. Ralph Waldo Emerson
