Sondra Kay (Currat) Sailer was born in Emporia, Kansas in 1942 and moved to OKC in 1956. She graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School in 1960 and married Joe Sailer, the love of her life, in 1962. They were married for 46 years and built a beautiful life together...a testimony to God's faithfulness! Sondra worked as a secretary for Britton Vet Clinic before becoming a secretary for an oil and gas company. She and Joe were proud of their children and were always involved in their activities. Sondra was a Cub Scouts leader, a Girls Scouts leader, PTA president and little league team mom, She taught several Sunday School classes at St. Eugene's Catholic Church, and was involved with her kids' high school booster clubs. She was a fan of both OSU and OU, and loved spending time with her family by attending their events. She could cook for an army, but especially enjoyed it when her grandkids helped her make Grandma Currat's chex mix. She and Joe were members of MetroChurch and later, LifeChurch and were co-creators of From Those Who Care ministry, working in many prisons and detention centers including COJAC in Tecumseh, Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud, and the Juvenile Detention Center in OKC.
She passed away on October 25, 2023, and was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Geneva Currat and her husband, Joseph Sailer. She is survived by her daughter Shannon (Jim) Davis, her sons Bryan (Nancy) Sailer and Eric (Amy) Sailer; her 9 grandchildren: Josh (Melissa), Megan, Aaron, Brooke (Ian), Ben, Emma, Kailey, Makenna, and Lexi; her 2 great-grandchildren: Gracie and Dakota; her sister Terri Bernauer; her brother Ron (Conde) Currat, and many friends, including Paul and Elizabeth Dungan.
