Stella Fay Kitchel, 75, of OKC passed peacefully from this life on May 29, 2020 with her loving family by her side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral & Cremation in OKC and a service celebrating her life will be held at 10am on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the funeral home chapel located at 7720 S. Pennsylvania. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Public visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1pm-7pm. Stella Fay Brawdy was born on August 23, 1944 in Norwood, NC to James and Ethel May (Patton) Brawdy. She relocated to OK where she grew up in the Pawnee area. Shortly after finishing school she married and gave birth to two children: Allan and Marshal. In the early 1970’s she moved to OKC and in 1974 she married Leroy “Jerry” Smith. In 1981, Stella adopted Marsha Eileen, Bonnie May, and Bobby Ray. In 1994 she married Alfred Kitchel and they spent seven wonderful years together before his passing in 2001. Stella spent 20+ years working as an executive housekeeper for Comfort Inn in OKC before retiring in the early 2000’s.
Stella was an easy going and old fashioned woman who enjoyed life. She loved being outdoors, spending time at Lake Eufaula, gardening, and joking with those she loved. She was an avid OKC Thunder fan and never missed an episode of American Idle or The Voice. She was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with her dogs and her pet pig Spike. Stella’s family and faith were both important to her. She was a member of Camille Ave Baptist Church in Valley Brook. She was always at Sunday School and she made many wonderful friends there. Family was her top priority and she made countless crocheting projects that her kids and grandkids have come to cherish.
Stella Kitchel was a wonderful mother, a loving wife, a proud grandmother, and a caring sister. She will truly be missed by all who know her. Stella was preceded in death by her parents James and Ethel Brawdy; husband Alfred Kitchel; siblings: Johnny Brawdy, Sonny Brawdy, Mary Pitts, Martha Watts, Dean Westmoreland, James Brawdy, and David Brawdy.
She is survived by her children: Allan Tullos and Jennifer Henson, Marshal and Diane Tullos, Marsha and Tim Mutz, Bobby Brawdy, Bonnie and Stephen Houston, Brandi Kitchel, Allen and Tellecia Kitchel, and Troy and Michelle Kitchel; 13 grandchildren: Whitney, Destiney, Cameron, Tavia, Ava, Alli, Dylan, Savannah, Tori, Jason, Bethanie, Jayce, and Kimberlin; eight great grandchildren: Nolan, Zayde, Hayden, Alora, Patrick, Kyson, Emilyn, Addilyn, and one on the way; two siblings: Bobby Brawdy and Berta Mae Brawdy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.
