1/5/61-5/22/23
Stephen Paul Pope passed peacefully from this life on May 22, 2023 after a short illness. Heaven is our home. He was the youngest but he beat us there. Well done, good and faithful servant. He was born in Oklahoma City on January 5, 1961 to Bob and Jo Ann Pope. He was a much beloved son, brother, father, uncle and friend. Stephen graduated from Carl Albert High School and went on to study at Oklahoma Christian University where he was a member of Delta Gamma Sigma.
He made friends wherever he went and never met a stranger. Stephen was humble and kind with a personality who left an imprint on all our hearts.
When you became his friend, you were his friend for life. He remained close with some very special high school friends for the past 44 years, Guy Emerson, Steve Craft, Mickey Fennell, Mike Barnes, Tom Middlebrooks and Fred Allen.
Sports Radio and Fox News were his main source of information and most days you would see him in an OSU sweatshirt, t-shirt or jacket, and always wearing shorts, even at Christmas. His lifelong love of the Cowboys never wavered. He loved talking politics with his sister and their staunch Republican views. He was also a master gardener.
He loved working for Southwest Airlines and flying around the country.
Stephen was preceded in death by his mother, Jo Ann Pope. He is survived by his daughter, Rylee Marie of Edmond, father, Bob Pope of Midwest City, brother, Wayne Pope (Pam) of Bixby, sister, Lee Ann Cobb of Edmond, and the love of his life, Jackie Pope plus nephews and nieces, Ryan Pope (Amie), Dustin Pope (Rebecca), Landon Cobb (Leigh), Lindsay Hix (Steve), Megan Pope, Mason Pope, Lydia Pope, Brooklyn Cobb, Bryson Cobb, Kinley Hix, Fallon Hix.
He also leaves behind his dear friends, Richard Dickerson, Keith Simpson, Chaniece Harley, Steve Dater, Aaron, Whitney, Lily and Addisyn Buckley, Samantha, Payton and Samuel Stafford.
