Steven Ray Rolland, 64, of OKC passed from this life on May 7, 2019 with his loving family by his side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral and Cremation Service at 7720 S. Penn in OKC and a service celebrating Steven’s life will be held at the funeral home chapel on Monday, May 13th at 2pm.
Steven was born on Nov. 25, 1954 in Dallas, TX to Jack and Margie (Williams) Rolland. He was raised in OKC where he attended US Grant High School with the class of 1973. Following high school, Steve set out on a journey to California to explore his options and discover what the world had to offer. A short time later he arrived back in Oklahoma, barefoot, with a passion for an up and coming field called computer technology. He spent several years working as a part puller at Fred Jones Ford in Downtown OKC while he attended school to learn his new found trade. In the mid 1980’s he began working as a computer tech for the Pace-Butler Corp. He traveled the state repairing industrial printers and other electronic equipment for Pace-Butler’s major corporate accounts. In 2003 he left Pace-Butler and eventually accepted a position with CDR Electronics where he repaired and rebuilt computer and printer systems. In 2013 he retired due to health issues and this allowed him more time to camp at Sulphur Lake.
When Steve was younger he loved to line up all his sisters dolls and preach to them. This included a passionate sermon delivered loudly with plenty of banging of his fist on his homemade pulpit. Later in his life Steve enjoyed playing disc golf, softball, board games, fantasy football, golfing, and supporting his favorite football teams, the New England Patriots and the Texas Longhorns. Music was a big part of Steve’s life. He loved going to rock concerts and was a huge fan of many bands, especially Pink Floyd and the Moody Blues. Over the past few years his taste in music has evolved ever since his daughter Rachel exposed him to Five Finger Death Punch, In This Moment, and Three Days Grace. Steve was never happier than when he was surrounded by his grandchildren. He enjoyed making them balloon animals, swimming, taking them to the park, and on trips to the zoo. Steve was a proud father, a loving grandfather, and a caring brother who will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Margie Rolland and two siblings Gordon Johnson and Maryann Simmons. He is survived by four children: Trevor Rolland and wife Katie, Sarah Allen and husband Preston, Rachel Carter and husband Dalton, and Jamie Mudgett; nine grandkids: Haydn Rolland, Kyler Rolland, Tate Rolland, Cale Rolland, Jaxon Allen, Kamry Allen, Havyn Allen, Harlynn Carter, and Corey Whittle-Mudgett; three siblings: Donna Sue Leber and husband Nick, Janelle Hovorka and husband Jay, and Mike Rolland; and his significant other Glenda Onstott. He was also survived by numerous other beloved family members and friends.
