Susan Joanna Dorton

Susan Joanna Dorton went to be with Jesus and her Mom and Dad on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021. Susan was born September 25, 1950 in Alva, OK to Frank Kenneth Marcum and Alvis Leah (Morehart) Marcum.

She grew up in Alva, OK. She was the LifeGuard at the Carmen swimming pool when she met Donney Ray Dorton. They married, had four children, and lived a wonderful life together for nearly 51 years.

While living in Woodward, Susan started her own tax service business and continued to work up until the time of her passing. Clients became friends as life moved Donney and Susan from Woodward to Grandfield to Piedmont, OK. After moving to the OKC area, Susan worked as an accountant for American Fidelity Assurance until she retired. She loved the work she did and the team with whom she worked.

All of her “jobs” never came close to the fulfillment and joy she received from spending time with her family. The laughs - oh the laughs - her grandkids could always make her laugh. She taught them all how to give and love beyond measure, balanced that with a little mischief and spoiled them beyond belief. She was a loving mother who always had time to listen. And she knew no bounds on her generosity. She was an amazing wife, mother of four children, grandmother and great grandmother and no one will ever replace her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Avis Marcum, brother Edward Marcum, and sister Mary Ann Millikan.

Susan leaves to carry on her memory her husband Donney Ray; children Brenda Schmidt and husband Mike Schmidt, Misty Busche and husband Jason Busche, David Dorton, Daniel Dorton and wife McCall Dorton; grandchildren Bradyn Busche and wife Ashley Busche, Jordan Dorton and wife Stephanie Dorton, Jalyn Busche, Jaxyn Busche, Owen Schmidt; great granddaughter Olivia Dorton; sisters Dana Chapman and husband Dean Chapman, Kathleen Keesee and husband Preston Keesee; many nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.

All are invited to join the family in a Celebration of Susan’s Life at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Monday, January 3, 2021, from 1 pm - 3pm

A celebration of life for Susan will be held Monday, January 3, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
