June 20, 1949 - December 8, 2025
Susan passed peacefully to heaven on December 8, 2025. She was born to Vauda H. Clark and Mary Ruth (Gibson) Clark on June 20, 1949, in Ada, Oklahoma. The family lived in Ft. Smith, Arkansas until Susan was five then settled in Oklahoma City. Susan went to West Nichols Hills Elementary and was in the Class of 1967 at John Marshall High School. The Clarks were members of Trinity Baptist Church, where Susan enjoyed choirs, youth group, and dear friends. Her faith in Jesus shaped her life. In later years, she loved worshiping at Crossings Community Church.
Susan is survived by her husband, Arthur Hayes, son Jack Clark, daughter, Jennifer Clark McCorkle, Kirk McCorkle, sisters Vaudeana (Tom) Thoma, Sally (Ken) DeFehr, Christy (Mark) Thompson, Holly (Greg) Isch, Chad (Casey) Hayes, Chris (Chandra) Hayes, 11 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her presence in the lives of these family members will be greatly missed.
Susan was able to use her kind, caring nature to encourage and support others as she worked in medical offices as a receptionist and administrator. She valued the friendships of many co-workers through the years. Susan was an avid reader and enjoyed concerts, traveling, and taking walks.
Susan and Arthur delighted in entertaining and hosting holiday gatherings for friends and family - their home was always warm, welcoming, and beautifully decorated. As a loving and generous wife, mother, and grandmother, she treasured time spent with all her family. Susan loved her role as “Grammy” and enjoyed talking, laughing, and taking trips with her sisters.
We would like to thank the people at Touchmark, Edmond, who have shown such compassion in their care for Susan.
Contributions to Susan’s memory may be made to Crossings Community Church.
A memorial service will take place January 7, 2026, 11 a.m., at Crossings Community Chapel,14600 Portland Ave., Oklahoma City.
