Susan Carolyn (Cobb) Norvill, was born in Burneyville, (Jimtown) Oklahoma on March 5, 1935. She attended Putnam City High School and went to Southwestern Bible College to pursue a music degree. She was very involved with the choral department and singing solos. So much so, that when the choir went to the White House in Washington D.C., the teacher selected her to sing a solo for President, Dwight D. Eisenhower. Most of her career was in the insurance industry. She actually got Rajeanna (Wood) Amini, her first job.
As an adult, she was a member of Muse Memorial and Faith Tabernacle Churches. She volunteered in the children’s ministry, teaching Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She was also a faithful member of the choir in all the churches she attended.
Preceded in death by her parents, Stanley Gordon and Polly Mae (Hartless) Cobb, her husband, Bill Norvill, her daughter, LaJunta (Norvill) Oakley and sister, Loretta Mae (Cobb) Schmidt-Thomas, and brother, Edward Jefferson Cobb.
Living relatives, granddaughter, Ashley Gail Oakley, great grandchildren, Jordan Kelly Oakley, Jesse James Fountain, Kaydence Labella Fountain and Hunter Wayne Doyals. Granddaughter, Amber Jean Oakley, great grandson, Jaden Oakley and grandson, Travis Lee Oakley. Sister, Ada Louise (Cobb) Wood. Nine nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was a living testimony of the Fruits of the Spirit: charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, and chastity. Now these three things remain: Faith, Hope and Love, and the greatest of these is Love.
