This is a tremendous loss for anyone who knew Haaris. They had a vibrant smile and radiant personality. From impromptu fashion shows at their childhood home to social activism as an adult, Haaris had a way of bringing light and love to everything they did.

 At the drop of a dime Haaris could rattle off a famous one liner deriving uproaring laughter or start a bhangra break out. They were always there for their loved ones with an open ear and heart. Haaris was contagious vibes and the most glamorous diva all rolled into one amazing human being. 

 I knew them since the late 80s. I watched Haaris navigate the difficulties of the 90s and the Desi culture with grace and love. Albeit the Desi community's tendency toward rigid judgement, Haaris lived their life to their fullest and unapologetically (as anyone should be able to). They set a precedence for acceptance and compassion. 

  They were a friend, an ally, a brother, a son, and so much more to so many people. Their contagious, radiant, and enigmatic smile will live on in the hearts of all who loved them forever. I will be forever grateful for the memories of Haaris that I will always cherish. 

 I love you Haarisina, fly high.
