82 Years Old
Terrial Ray Leonard, 82, a proud Vietnam Veteran, devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and beloved brother, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service that will never be forgotten.
Terrial proudly served his country in the United States Army Infantry, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. As one of the last draftees of the Vietnam era, he was drafted in 1967 and dedicated 17 years of his life to serving his country. During his distinguished military career, he received numerous medals and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star Medal with V Device, Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Overseas Service Bars, Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon. He continued serving until his medical retirement in 1984.
After his military retirement, Terrial returned to his hometown of Newalla, Oklahoma, where he continued his service and worked at Tinker Air Force Base for another 20 years before retiring in 2003. His dedication to his country and his work was a reflection of the hardworking and determined man he was.
While Terrial was proud of his military service, his greatest legacy was the family he loved. He was the only man in a house full of girls growing up, a running family joke that continued throughout his life. Even his beloved dog, Lady, was a girl, leaving him completely outnumbered!
Terrial was an adventurer at heart. Whether he was outside piddlin’ in his shop, finding something to tinker with, or enjoying one of his famous afternoon naps, he was happiest doing things his own way. He had a personality and a spirit that made him unforgettable, and his family will forever cherish the laughter, stories, and memories he leaves behind.
He is survived by his wife Veronica Sigrid and sisters, Connie Sanders, Norma Jean, and Vic Adams; his three daughters, Tonya Foreman, Jodie Bowen, and Terri (Anthony) Quary; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory in their hearts.
Terrial will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a lasting mark on this world and, more importantly, on the lives of those who were blessed to know him. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with our Father in Heaven and the loved ones who went before him.
His service to his country is complete, but his legacy of love will live on forever. He will be truly missed but never forgotten.
