Tom was born on January 28 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas and Florence Beckmeyer. He attended Wichita State University, where he studied Chemistry. Tom served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and worked for twenty years as a civilian at Tinker Air Force Base. After his retirement from Tinker in 2001, he spent his time building model cars; watching NASCAR; and reading about, and listening to, music. Tom collected vinyl records and CDs, loved guitars, and was an avid fan of the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and a huge range of rock, folk, and reggae artists. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of even the most obscure groups. Music was in his soul, and he enjoyed sharing it, and talking about it, with the people he loved.
Tom is survived by his wife, Stasha; son, Jeremy; sister, Barbara; nephews and nieces, Tom, Mark, Jill, and Jennifer; great-niece, Leslie; and lifelong friends, Bill, Alan, and Tom.
He is predeceased by his parents and a niece, Kyle.
A private memorial service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Hounds of the Heartland in Oklahoma City, an organization that helps rescue the retired racing greyhounds that Tom loved.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.eisenhourfuneralhome.com for the Beckmeyer family.
