Thomas Haskell Fraley Jr, MD, 75, passed away peacefully August 2, 2011. Tom was born August 5, 1935 in Hominy, OK and was the son of Tom Sr. and Alma Fraley. Tom was blessed with immeasurable charm, talent and generosity and led a full life of compassion and excellence. As a proud "Hominy Buck", Tommy was Class President, Valedictorian, Quarterback, Basketball star and was elected "Buck King" his senior year. Tom graduated high school at 16 and attended the University of Oklahoma on a basketball scholarship. As was his norm, Tom had a stellar career academically and socially as a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, intramural golf champion and numerous academic honors. He graduated in three years and began medical school at the young age of 19. Tom proudly served our country as a Lt. in the US Navy. His distinguished career included the care and comfort for hundreds of service men and women and qualified for and competed in the All Service Golf Championship. He was a decorated expert marksman and captain of the military's top pistol shooting team. Following his service, Tom and Mary returned to Oklahoma City where he began his practice as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist. Tom deeply loved being a doctor and caring for his patients through the years. He took great pride in delivering nearly 2000 babies throughout his career and recently received the Govenor's commendation as a 50 year physician. His positive impact on his patients' lives through the years is incalculable. Tom loved the outdoors and when not practicing medicine, he took great joy as an accomplished hunter, fisherman and golfer. Blessed with incredible hand/eye coordination, few could match his abilities with a shotgun, fishing pole, pool cue or ping pong paddle. However, Tom's greatest passion above all else was his love of family and friends. As the best husband, father, "Da" and friend, he will be sorely missed by all who had the honor and pleasure to know him. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Mary; daughter - Corby Verdoorn and husband Jay; son - Tom Fraley III and wife Cheryl; grandchildren - Fraley Verdoorn, Blake Verdoorn, Garrett Fraley and Claire Fraley; as well as countless adored friends and patients. Services to be held Saturday, August 6 at 10:00 a.m. at All Souls Episcopal Church followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tom's name to All Souls Church. Arrangements under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, Oklahoma City, OK.
