Thomas Mack Sprowl “Bud”, 86, was born September 11, 1939, in Dalton, Georgia. On July 4th, Tom was driving to be with family and was in a not-at-fault accident where he suffered major injuries. He fought and persevered through numerous surgeries, procedures, and regimens in the Trauma ICU at OU Medical Center to make it back to his family. On August 3rd, Jesus brought him home to his heavenly father.
Tom spent most of his professional life in the science communities at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center and the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry’s Histology Labs, where he retired.
He later drove cars for transfer with Enterprise Rent-a-Car for a few years after. Throughout his life, Tom was an avid golfer and won several tournaments in the Oklahoma City area, and those trophies were so many that he often gave them to his grandchildren to provide an example of accomplishment. In the month leading up to the accident, Tom would still play pick-up rounds with players much younger than him and win.
Tom was the youngest of seven children, and he was blessed with a large family of his own who cared for him greatly as he made them the priority. Tom will be missed by so many friends as he touched all of those he encountered and left warm impressions with all.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Sprowl; his father, Harry Sprowl; his mother, Olene J. Sprowl “Teddy”; his brothers, C.W. Sprowl, Harry Sprowl Jr., and Raleigh Sprowl; his sisters, Vivian Pender, Dorothy Willis, and Willie Olene Reynolds “Tiny”. He is survived by his Daughters: Pandora Sprowl- Loftis, Shelly Watson, and Chrystal Paulsen; his Sons: Danny Sprowl, Rodney Sprowl, James Peck, and Timothy Sprowl; fifteen Grandchildren, twelve Great-Grand Children, and his partner, Linda Sue Holliman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73162, US, on August 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
