

Vaughn Edwin Doyle was born in Watchorn, Oklahoma on June 25th, 1932 and died on Sunday April 1st, 2012. He attended Red Rock High School and graduated in the class of 1950. Growing up, Vaughn was exposed to difficult farm work, including traveling to northern states annually from the age of 12 to participate in annual harvests. At Red Rock High School, he was on both the baseball and basketball teams.
After graduating from high school, Vaughn attended Oklahoma A&M University (now Oklahoma State). He was a gifted student, earning straight A’s throughout his entire college career. He was in the ROTC and graduated with a degree in accounting. He then enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Henderson in the mid 50’s, during which the destroyer protected various crisis spots in the Western Pacific.
In 1955, Vaughn moved to Oklahoma City, became a Certified Public Accountant, and began working for the accounting firm of Authur Young & Co. He then met Betty Brown at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and they were married on August 23rd, 1957. Shortly after getting married, Vaughn began working at Kerr-McGee Oil and Gas Corporation, where he served as Director of Tax for nearly 25 years.
During the late 60’s, Vaughn attended law school at night at Oklahoma City University, and was admitted to the bar in 1970. During his career as an oil and gas tax attorney, Vaughn worked as legal counsel on many important cases in multiple jurisdictions across the US. He travelled extensively internationally, during the 70’s and 80’s, working with governments and tax assessors as Kerr-McGee expanded globally into Europe, Africa , and South America.
Vaughn was a devoted family man and had a love for Oklahoma State University athletics. He will be missed dearly by his family. He is survived by his wife Betty, sons Patrick, Michael and Timothy, grandsons Ian and Benjamin, and brother Donald. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian. Visitation will be held at Guardian West Funeral Home on Friday, April 6th, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at May Avenue Methodist Church in Oklahoma City on Saturday, April 7th at 1 o’clock.
