

Hefner, Vera J. Hoch, 90, passed away January 29, 2018 in Oklahoma City. She was born on July 5, 1927 in Cicero Illinois to Anna and Albert Hoch. She grew up in Cicero, met Truman Hefner in High School and they married on December 27, 1947. In 1958 Truman was transferred by Western Electric to Oklahoma City where they settled to raise their five children. Vera returned to college after her children had grown and graduated Summa cum Laude from what was then Central State University. She was a substitute teacher and taught at Putnam City High School for 15 years. Upon retirement, Vera and Truman enjoyed traveling. The family took many fun and exciting vacations together. Vera was a longtime member of Mayflower Congregational Church and a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Beta Zeta Chapter. Vera made many friends throughout her life whom she cherish very much.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years,Truman, son, Jimmy Hefner and daughter Barbara Hatch. Vera is survived by her daughters, Trudy Hefner, Nancy & Herb Conley, Susan Carey and Marshall Lee, son-in-law Philo Hatch, daughter-in-law, Ellyn Novak Hefner as well as 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A funeral Service will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Resurrection memorial Cemetery Chapel. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 8:am to 8:pm.
