Vicki was born in Oklahoma City on October 4, 1955, and graduated from Edmond High School in 1973. Vicki married the love of her life, Layne Duncan, on June 3. And in that marriage of 22 years, she become a “mother” to two amazing children, Cassandra and Chad, who ultimately made her a grandmother of five, a title which she deeply cherished. Always, remember she loved you all as her own.
In her professional career, Vicki was employed in banking, real estate, and finally retired from the State of Oklahoma, March 1, 2022, from the Oklahoma Tax Commission Ad Valorem Division, after 23 years as a faithful advocate for the people of Oklahoma.
A proud Citizen Choctaw Nation and descendant of a Chief, along with a lineage back to the Mayflower, gave her a unique heritage. Vicki was honored to have this grand combination, and said so in an elementary show-and-tell stating, “I am cowboy and Indian!”
As a child, and throughout her lifetime, she loved travel, especially road trips with her siblings, spouse, and friends, seeing multiple historical sights, and enjoying all of America and beyond. Her travel history was broad and deep and made for great memories and wonderful stories. In her past she was a supporter of the arts and the vibrancy of OKC, which was shown in her support of the OKC Ballet and other arts organizations. She loved to share her talents as an event planner and fundraiser which lent to supporting her passions while helping others. Her friends will remember her for her philanthropic spirit, can do attitude, and love of her community. Her family will remember her as a stoic, and champion for what was right, even as she battled her own significant health issues.
